Setting Goals....

I generally try not to set huge, long term goals for myself when it comes to my weight... for example:  Even though I would love to weigh 125 one day, I don't set a goal at 125.  Otherwise, I'll get discouraged that it takes me a year to get there.  I'll set smaller goals like, "fit into these jeans I have on right now, but where I can slide them on with no problem fresh out of the dryer..." or " lose 5 pounds by Cinco de Mayo..."  Things like that.  My current short term goal is to be at comfortably at 142lbs by the beginning of May.  Why 142?  Who knows?  But I know I can get there, and if I'm at 140 that's even better.  My definition of "comfortably" is when I get on the scale it always says 142 or less.  I don't claim a weight until I can stay there for a week.  :-)

HOWEVER, I have set a long term goal for myself recently... that goal is to wear a bikini, with no wrap, and be happy about it, by my 40th birthday.  In fact, I'm going to have a bikini photo shoot.  How about that?  Now, all three of those pieces of the puzzle must be in place:

1.  wearing the bikini
2.  not wearing a sarong or board shorts or anything to cover my butt/thighs
and
3.  be HAPPY about it!

I can put on a bikini right now... would I step out in public?  Hellll to the naw!  But I will by July 26, 2011... It is going to take major WORK... and I mean MAJOR (say it like Victoria Beckham.. MAY-JAH!)  LOL!

You see that girl in the picture up there?  In that bikini?  With no wrap?  And clearly happy about whatever she is doing?  That's me as a child... I look to be about 4 or 5, just enjoying life.  That's my long term goal:  to take a bikini picture like that... and be HAPPY about it!!!  Wish me luck!

Whoo hoooooo!

Just excited that I actually saw some downward movement on the scale!  Down to 148!  Okay... that's not counting this weekend... my brother has been in town, and yes... I ate some things I don't normally eat... like a DELICIOUS cheeseburger at Salt Creek Grill & French Toast at IHOP.  I enjoyed every bite, and I'll deal with it next week when I work out a little bit extra :-)

The time change did a number on me last week... I ended up taking a whole week off of morning bootcamp.  I made up for it by walking every day at lunch time, plus still doing my evening workout.

Still on my mission.... knee is feeling better... and I have a feeling I can get down to 140 by the beginning of May!  Let's get it!!!!

Late Night Update...

I'm up late, because I took a nice long nap this evening... so I thought I'd write a quick update.

Still loving my 6am workout.  It's hard to get up on Monday mornings, but once I'm out the door... it's all good!  Tomorrow is Tuesday Yoga Day, and that is always a challenge for me!  But I feel great when I'm finished.

I actually tried a pole dance fitness class.... which turned out to be good and bad.  The good part was the stretching & burlesque part of it.  I did pretty good on that stuff.  The bad part was the actual spin they taught us.  Let's just say my clumsiness translates to the pole as well!  LOL!  I must have banged my left knee on that pole 10 times... and, yes, that is my BAD KNEE!  My physical therapist was not happy to see my bruised up/swollen knee the next day in my session.  Sooo, I'm chilling out on that for a while.  I may find a class that focuses more on burlesque & not the pole.  You almost have to feel the burn strutting around in high heels for an hour doing squats.  I loved that part -- just not so much banging my knee against the pole!  We'll see.  I recommend to those who are not so clumsy & don't have a bad knee that may get re-injured!  Here's a picture of me at my friend's birthday party in December... and, NO, I did not go for a spin! LOL!

Claudine had her baby two weeks ago, and she's started her bootcamp back up.  It works out perfectly, because she's having class Wednesday and Saturday... which are two days I don't do the Six Pack Mom workout.  On days when I'm not too tired (unlike today), I walk on the treadmill for a while in the evenings -- mainly to get my 10,000 steps in for the day.  I have a bodybugg (like the contestants on the Biggest Loser wear), and it tracks my steps & calories burned for the day.  I really like it.  My goal is to burn 2150 calories a day & to take in 1150 calories a day... the burning part is cool.  The taking in part... hmmm... still working on staying under 1150!  This week I'm really focusing on my nutrition, because I have the workout part on lock.

Alright... nap or no nap, I need to go to bed.... no matter how awake I am now, that alarm is still going to ring at 5am!!!

TTYL!
